Creative arts is mandatory for students from Kindergarten to Year 6.
In creative arts, students discover a variety of art forms through a study of dance, drama, music and visual arts where they learn to appreciate, compose, listen, make and perform.
Each art form has its own unique knowledge and skills, elements or concepts as well as a capacity to inspire and enrich lives.
Arts
Students can unleash their creative flair through dance and drama performances, competitions, exhibitions and enrichment programs.
Students with particular interests and talents can participate in local and statewide activities in visual arts, music, dance and drama.
CAPA
In Term 2, 2018 - Miranda PS Staff ran K-6 CAPA groups on a Tuesday afternoon. Students had the opportunity to participate in different interest areas such as drama, art, drumming, sewing, gardening and robotics.
Dance
Miranda Public School have a Junior and Senior dance group, which aim to promote the talents of MPS students and foster students' interests in dance. The junior group includes students in Year 1 & 2 and the senior dance group includes students from Year 3-6.
Students in both dance groups learn a combination of contemporary and funk routines choreographed by our teachers Mrs Shields, Mrs Cairnduff and Miss McMillan.
Practices are held at lunch times and after school. The dance ensembles are performed at the Sutherland Shire Schools Music Festival and at school events.
